Overview

The Arun Valley trek offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural diversity. Located between the majestic Everest and Makalu mountains, this region provides breathtaking views of these peaks and many others. Unlike popular tourist areas, it remains relatively untouched, allowing for a more authentic experience. The main ethnic groups residing here are Sherpa, Rai, and Limbu.

The trek begins by following the Arun River northward towards Sedua and Num villages. From there, trekkers cross the challenging Barun La pass (4110m) to enter the upper Barun Khola valley, providing a closer view of the magnificent Makalu mountain. For a more adventurous option, one can continue by crossing the Sherpani Col and west col into the remote upper Hongu Valley.

The highest point of this trek is Salpa Bhanjyang, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes. Additionally, trekkers have the opportunity to visit the sacred Hindu Lake, Salpa Holy Lake (3414m). The trek presents a perfect combination of wilderness and spirituality, immersing travelers in the natural wonders and cultural richness of the region.
