Overview

Dhaulagiri, the sixth-tallest peak in the world, stands prominently west of the Annapurna range, commanding awe along the Muktinath trail in the Kali Gandaki Valley. Its majestic presence serves as a gateway to the hidden lands of Dolpo to the north and Nepal’s far western hills to the west. The Dhaulagiri trek, though captivating, is known for its challenging and remote terrain, making it accessible to only a select few trekkers. Starting from Beni, after a long drive from Kathmandu, the trek takes you through charming villages and later leads to high and isolated glacier areas, eventually descending to Marpha where it intersects with the main Annapurna circuit or Kali Gandaki trail.

From there, the journey continues along the Kali Gandaki valley, culminating at the revered Muktinath, the gateway to Mustang. Due to the demanding nature of this trek, which includes traversing glaciers, the French Pass, and the Thapa Pass, it is recommended only for experienced trekkers.\
