Overview

The Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour offers a shorter and more leisurely journey, particularly suitable for elderly individuals. However, there is a possibility of flight cancellations during the monsoon season. We utilize both fixed-wing aircraft and charter helicopters for this trip. Situated in the Arctic Tibetan plateau in western TibetMount Kailash is considered a sacred haven in the three realms of oriental existence. The holy mountain, along with Lakes Mansarovar and Raksas Tal, is surrounded by Gurla Mandata and Kunlung Mountain mountain ranges.

Located in the remote Ngari region of the Tibetan plateau, Mount Kailash is far from major towns, with Ali being the closest large town. However, several noteworthy nearby destinations can be included in the itinerary, such as Lakes Mansarovar and Raksas Tal, the Guge ruins, Tirthapuri Gompa, Purang, and Panggong Tso. The journey begins with a scheduled fixed-wing aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Simikot. From Simikot, a charter helicopter takes you to Hilsa, the Nepal-China border. A short walk across Hilsa Bridge leads to Chinese Immigration, followed by a 1-hour drive to Purang and another 3-hour to Lake Mansarovar.

This tour is specifically designed for devout pilgrims who have limited time or are unable to undertake the rugged overland drive due to age or health factors. The logistics of the tour are carefully planned, and it is recommended to book at least 3 weeks in advance. There are eight Gompas around Mansarovar Lake, representing different continents and sub-continents, constructed in the form of Mandalas according to Tibetan Buddhism. Among these, the “Thrugo” monastery on the southern shore is considered the holiest site for bathing. The water of Mansarovar Lake holds great significance in the lives of local farmers.

Participating in the Kailash & Lake Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter requires above-average physical fitness. The best seasons for trekking in this region are summer and autumn, with May to October being particularly favored by travelers. To embark on this extraordinary journey to the center of the universe, we invite you to join Sunny Travels & Tours and book your trip with our exceptional team. Contact us now to secure your place.
