Overview
The trek to the east face of Everest, known as the Kangshung Face, offers breathtaking beauty and a sense of remoteness. It is a lesser-known trek that takes you through pristine valleys and lakes. The entire region from Kharta to the Kama Valley is considered a sacred land called “Be-yul Khembalung” or the Hidden Valley according to Tibetan beliefs. This area is blessed with holy lakes, majestic mountains, and the revered “Kharta Tsechu” or long-life water springs.
Kharta and the Kama Valley are characterized by stunning alpine scenery, rich flora, and the highest forests in the world. The awe-inspiring peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu overlook the valley, creating a dramatic backdrop. The journey begins with an exploration of the legendary city of Lhasa, followed by a rugged mountain terrain leading to the Nepal border. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit interesting places.
Once at Dingri, we meet our experienced Nepali Sherpa trekking crew, who will accompany us throughout the trek. From Kharta, the official starting point of the trek, we embark on our adventure. It’s worth noting that we take pride in employing our team of Sherpas for all our trekking trips in the Tibetan Himalayas, ensuring the highest level of expertise and local knowledge.
Embarking on the Kangshung Face trek is a remarkable journey that combines natural beauty, cultural exploration, and a sense of spiritual significance. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Himalayas and discover hidden treasures in this captivating region.
