Overview
Mustang, a unique and enchanting region, captivates with its barren yet mesmerizing landscape reminiscent of the Tibetan plateau. The soul of its people is deeply rooted in their belief in the intangible essence of humanity. Despite the challenging environment, beauty and happiness thrive here. Once a part of the Tibetan Kingdom of Gungthang, Mustang became an independent principality in 1951. With its medieval walls, the mythical city of Lo Monthang stands as a testament to the region’s rich cultural and religious heritage. The history of Lo Monthang is shrouded in legend rather than recorded facts.
Today, the king of Lo Monthang still holds his title and an honorary rank in the Nepalese Army. Mustang is a land where time stands still, preserving a unique heritage and captivating the imagination of all who venture into its realm.
