Shangri-La is the “Eden in a dream”. Shangri-la attracted explorers and adventurers, pilgrims, and traders. In Tibetan, Shangri-La means the “sun and moon in heart”, an ideal home only found in heaven. There the lofty and continuous snowy mountains, endless grasslands, steep and grand gorges, azure lakes, and bucolic villages always leave a deep impression on visitors. Located at the point where Tibet, Sichuan, and Yunnan all meet, Shangri-La County is administered by Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

On this journey, there are more and more people traveling through virgin forests, boundless grasslands, and traditional Tibetan villages. In Shangri-La, you will experience Tibetan culture and landscape without going to the higher altitude of Tibet. In our tour, we shall drive to Shangri-La, which is a popular destination for travelers throughout Tibet and China. To get there, visitors will typically begin their journey in Chengdu. Commencing the tour in Chengdu, you will travel to Ya’an. From there you will climb up to the tunnel of Mount Er’Lang, and then drive down to the Daduhe Valley to see the famous Luding Bridge. Afterward, you will head up to Kangding, the gateway to Eastern Tibet-Kham. From there onwards we shall follow our planned itinerary destinations and reach Shangri-La on the 6th day of our tour. As you reach Shangri-La, you shall explore this mystical and eye-catching region. We shall start the tour by visiting the Songzanlin Lamasery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist lamasery in Yunnan Province. It represents the Tibetan culture, housing Buddhist statues and many precious cultural treasures. Later, you will visit Pudacuo National Park which has an average altitude of 3,500 meters and retains a well-preserved ecosystem within the virgin forests. The must-see scenery in this park includes Lake Bita and Lake Shudu. “Bita” means a place with a dense oak forest’ in Tibetan and “Shudu” means ‘Cheese Stone’. Lastly, at the end of our tour, we shall drive to the airport for our departure.

We shall be visiting the most famous and picturesque monasteries and temples and shall spend 11 days experiencing and photographing the uniqueness of Tibetan culture at Shangri-La. Normally the best time to visit Shangri-La is from March to August. During this period, the weather is favorable and the blooming of the wildflowers makes it even more eye-catching.
